“ Old school diner, nothing fancy with the open kitchen so you see everything going on including watching the orange juicer, juicing the best fresh orange juice! The staff is happy and welcoming and very attentive. They definitely know their job and they do it well! The food was fantastic. We had breakfast. I loved the fresh made hash browns. County fried steak was tender enough to cut with my fork. Bacon perfection! Plus they have the best raspberry jam ever! Price is reasonable and not overly inflated. Can't wait to try lunch. Open early at 6 am. Close at 2 just go! Yum! ”
“ The German pancake was very good So all time in place. But Very Good . The food overall is good. It has a homemade feeling to it. Nothing fancy just good home cooking would recommend it ”
“ Pancake Chef is a Pacific Northwest gem and a beloved historic neighborhood institution that is, thankfully, still in existence and is being kept well-maintained, which includes its gorgeous neon sign. Many of these standalone long-time establishments are being torn down year after year and replaced with soulless multi-story buildings. I see the purpose and need for multi-story buildings and creating more dense housing. However, places like the Pancake Chef brings much-needed community, history, and heart to neighborhoods. Our waitress is celebrating her 44th year working at Pancake Chef! To me, that says a lot about a business and loyalty. If you are looking for a traditional breakfast place with great retro ambiance and delicious food, plus friendly service, eat here and do your part in helping to preserve this exceptional local small business. ”
“ A trip back in time to restaurants run by the owner. Waitresses and customers who have been there for decades. Great food. If I lived closer I'd be a total regular. ”
“ I do love the selection and how warm and friendly all day employees are. I have noticed that the portion sizes seem to be smaller and today when I specifically ordered a certain kind of cheese flipped out the cook didn't do it and the server didn't notice. I would have said something that I was too hungry to care at that point. ”
“ We picked up our 3 couple of friends from the Port ( Alaskan Cruise) and found this place! We got here at the right time too. Two cars came out and we parked! Perfect! We got a huge table for 8 and ordered. Service was great food was good. They were so happy to eat regular food again...(not on the ship Buffett)!! ”
“ I love this spot for its history, its food, and great staff who were friendly and made sure we were taken good care of. It's a classic diner with fresh coffee and food made to order. I ordered the Denver omelette and my friend ordered the corn beef hash. Both were excellent. Definitely worth a try! ”
“ This is such a lovely spot. It's clean, has fast service, and a robust menu. Note: they are currently serving a limited menu but hopefully they'll get back to their full menu soon. They recommended the German pancake but alas, I have one stomach and it really wanted the pancake sandwich. It was exactly as described: pancakes, egg (as you like it - aka Sunnyside or you're wrong :)), and bacon (or links). They offer 3 jams/syrups: maple, pineapple, marionberry. I got the pancake sandwich and got to try all the syrups on it. Maple was my favorite but then when mixed with the marionberry, it was even better! They are clearly a favorite breakfast place for the locals, the servers often knew customers by name and spoke to them like old friends. It was heartwarming. I'd go back to work through the menu. ”
“ GLUTEN FREE OPTIONS! Waffle House of Washington but with MORE!!!! Stopped by one freezing morning on my quest for GF options around the Seattle metro area and came across this historic WA treasure! Excellent customer service! Staff was friendly and welcoming! Accommodating in every way and made me feel comfortable and cozy while dining solo. Ms. Barbara is an absolute gem and true master in her craft! Every diner style restaurant needs one of her! Inside gives me an old local diner vibe with an open kitchen and plenty of seating. Tables are close but it just feels right. Food was tasty! Good, fresh, and hearty breakfast with THE BEST GF PANCAKE I've ever tried! I was definitely impressed by the syrup caddy featuring - Maple, Blueberry, and house made Cranberry syrup! New local favorite! ”
